Evidence Handling Disclosure

This disclosure describes how the ARMA Platform captures, stores, protects, and transfers evidence files to maintain chain-of-custody integrity.

Effective: January 1, 2025Last Updated: March 1, 2025

01.Purpose of This Disclosure

The ARMA Platform is designed to support legal proceedings by capturing and preserving incident recordings with cryptographic integrity verification. This disclosure explains how ARMA handles evidence to maintain the chain of custody required for legal admissibility.

ARMA Law Shield provides the primary interface for legal evidence access, attorney workflows, and court-ready evidence export. This disclosure applies to all ARMA systems that capture or manage incident data.

02.Evidence Capture and Integrity

All recordings captured through ARMA systems are immediately processed with SHA-256 cryptographic hashing at the point of capture. This hash serves as a unique digital fingerprint that can detect any subsequent tampering or alteration.

A cryptographic timestamp is applied at capture using a trusted timestamping authority, establishing a verifiable record of when the recording was made.

The original recording, its hash value, and the timestamp certificate are stored together in the ARMA evidence vault. Any modification to the recording after capture will cause hash verification to fail, providing clear indication of tampering.

03.Evidence Storage and Security

Evidence files are stored in encrypted, redundant cloud storage infrastructure with access controls limiting access to authorized account holders and their designated legal representatives.

All evidence data is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption and in transit using TLS 1.3 or higher.

FSTS maintains audit logs of all access to evidence files, recording the identity of the accessing party, timestamp, action taken, and IP address. These logs are themselves cryptographically protected.

04.Attorney Access via ARMA Law Shield

ARMA Law Shield allows account holders to grant secure, time-limited access to evidence files for authorized legal counsel. Attorney access is governed by access tokens that can be configured with expiration dates and download restrictions.

All attorney access events are logged and included in the chain-of-custody documentation. Account holders can review the complete access history for any evidence file.

ARMA Law Shield does not constitute legal advice or attorney-client privilege. It is a tool for organizing and sharing evidence with legal counsel. The attorney-client relationship is established independently between the user and their counsel.

05.Evidence Export for Legal Proceedings

ARMA Law Shield supports court-ready evidence export packages that include: the original recording file, cryptographic hash certificate, timestamp verification, chain-of-custody log, and metadata summary.

Export packages are formatted to support introduction as exhibits in legal proceedings. However, admissibility is determined by the presiding court, and FSTS makes no warranty regarding admissibility in any specific proceeding.

Users should work with their legal counsel to ensure evidence is properly authenticated and introduced in accordance with applicable rules of evidence.

06.Law Enforcement Requests

FSTS will not voluntarily disclose evidence files to law enforcement without the account holder's consent except in response to valid legal process (warrant, subpoena, court order, or emergency disclosure under applicable law).

When FSTS receives a valid legal process request for evidence, we will notify the account holder prior to disclosure unless prohibited by law (e.g., a non-disclosure order).

Account holders may voluntarily share evidence with law enforcement through ARMA Law Shield's secure access feature.

07.Limitations

ARMA Law Shield supports legal review and evidence organization — it does not provide legal advice. Consult a licensed attorney for all legal matters relating to your evidence or proceedings.

The ARMA Platform does not guarantee the legal admissibility of any recording or evidence file in any jurisdiction. Legal standards for admissibility vary and are determined by courts, not technology platforms.
